Italy 1 - USA 1

I just caught the last half of the Italy v. US game. I usually tend to cheer for the underdogs and it is not very often that the US are underdogs but in football. They really fought it and came to a draw (thanks to Keller among others), earning a precious point to keep them in the cup. Congratulations to my american friends and readers. Now you've got a reason to watch the "soccer".

Joel ... if you think about it, the U.S. is in exactly the position most fans predicted after its first two games -- a loss and a draw.

And most of us figured that the U.S.' best chance of earning a draw was against Italy.

So while the opening loss to the Czech Republic was difficult to watch, the team rebounded well and is now in position to advance.

Perhaps it won't all fall into place, but it's as best as we could have hoped for in the The Group of Death.

You are right. I was impressed by their game though and how they resisted the Italian onslaught towards the end of the second half with one man less. I have to watch the Ghana game now to see how they will move from now. I bet many football fans will, to their own surprise watch it too.
